There is one brand of chocolate I absolutely love.
I literally buy 20 at a time. Why? Because there was one year where it was completely sold out—and let me tell you, it was tragic.
Now I stockpile them like they’re gold bars.
But here’s the thing: there’s a sales psychology principle at play here—and it’s the same one influencing your clients when they say yes (or no) to your offers.
Let’s break this down together.
Our brains are wired for efficiency. That means we’re constantly creating mental shortcuts—also known as heuristics—to save energy when making decisions.
This is why you:
Over time, your brain categorizes those experiences as “safe” and “trusted.” So when you’re faced with a decision—what to eat, who to hire, what to invest in—your brain goes for the familiar option first.
Familiar = safe.
Safe = fast decision.
Fast decision = conversion.
This mental shortcut doesn’t just affect your Starbucks order. It shows up in how people buy from you.
Let’s use my audience as an example.
Over the last few years, I’ve learned that my people love to buy… at the last possible second. Not because they’re flaky. Not because they’re unsure. But because their brain has created a pattern:
“Wait until the end of the launch. Then decide.”
They need to feel:
That doesn’t mean they don’t trust me. It just means their internal buying shortcut says, “Pause and evaluate.”
So if I want to guide their decision earlier, I have to intentionally interrupt the pattern or work with it strategically.
Let’s talk about what makes someone choose you as the shortcut.
It’s not just the fancy branding or the perfect funnel (although that helps). It’s your consistency. Your reliability. Your ability to show up over and over again with value, clarity, and intention.
Especially when you’re selling to women—trust and relationship matter.
Sales psychology tells us that women, in particular, make buying decisions based on emotion first, then logic second. They need to feel safe, seen, and supported.
This means that your job isn’t just to sell. Your job is to build the shortcut.
You want your dream client to think:
“When I’m ready to solve this problem, I already know who I’m going to.”
And that person is YOU.
If you’re tired of waiting for people to “finally” invest and want to become the person they think of first, it’s time to get serious about your sales strategy.
That’s exactly what we do inside Scale to $5K®—the monthly membership that helps business owners go from inconsistent income to repeatable $5K+ months.
We teach you how to:
And we do it without the fluff or burnout.
Remember: Your clients are not randomly stumbling into your offers.
They’re using mental shortcuts to decide who to buy from.
Be the most consistent, trustworthy voice in the room—so you become the obvious choice.
Now tell me in the comments—what’s one shortcut you can start creating for your audience this week?
