Are you tired of hearing coaches tell you to “disconnect from the outcome”?
Because, same.
When I was in the early stages of my business, that advice felt tone-deaf. I couldn’t just disconnect when I had bills to pay, a business to run, and no backup plan. Every sales call felt like life or death. That pressure built into a full-blown desperate energy—and spoiler alert: your ideal clients can feel that.
The desperation in your sales energy doesn’t come from a lack of skill. It comes from a mindset rooted in survival.
What changed everything for me was understanding how the mind actually works when it comes to making decisions. This shift started when I completed my NLP certification, and it helped me understand how to rewire my own beliefs and create more empowering ones for my clients, too.
Let’s break this down into what you can do right now:
The reason you feel desperate on sales calls is because you haven’t trained your nervous system to trust your process yet. That’s what NLP teaches at its core—your thoughts create emotional responses, and those responses dictate your behavior.
So if your process feels wobbly, you’re going to show up shaky.
What helped me—and what I now teach inside the Scale to $5K® Membership—is creating a daily repeatable sales system. You need a structure that helps you know:
When you’re showing up with intention, content strategy, and a clear understanding of how your ideal client makes buying decisions, you build trust. Your audience begins to associate your brand with leadership. Which means by the time they hop on a call (if you even need one), they’re pre-sold.
Not everyone who books a call is your dream client. You need a filter.
One of the best shifts I made was implementing a pre-application process that uses buyer psychology to qualify leads before I spent time with them. That meant no more calls with freebie seekers or price shoppers.
Now I only talk to people who are serious about solving a real problem. The application questions? They’re rooted in NLP principles—focusing on the client’s current pain, desired outcome, and what they believe is holding them back.
When you start collecting this kind of data, you’re no longer hoping someone is a good fit—you know it. This reduces pressure and boosts your confidence.
This isn’t about giving away everything for free. This is about showing up from a place of grounded authority. When your intention is service—not convincing—you flip the script from neediness to leadership.
Sales calls (or DM convos) are the confirmation of the work you’ve already done. If you’ve positioned your offer properly, your client should come in expecting to buy.
You’re not trying to persuade them out of fear.
You’re guiding them through a decision they’ve already been thinking about for weeks—because you’ve created consistent, trust-driven marketing that made them feel seen.
Most business owners think mindset is just journaling or visualization. But mindset work is sales strategy—because if you don’t believe in what you’re selling, or feel shaky around money, it will sabotage your results.
